When I saw this week’s Paper Pal Arts Color Challenge, I knew it had to be a floral card. But that seemed too easy, so I came up with some other ideas and tried them out. In the end, the floral won, and this is the card that I’ve posted for the challenge:
And here’s the color banner that inspired the card:
Today’s Tips and Tricks:
- Flower stems: How do you get multiple stems that don’t look like cookie cutter stamps across the page? Simple—turn your stamp upside down. If you could see the complete stems of the flowers on my card, they’d look something like this:
- Texture: Water Color paper brought the texture I wanted to for this card. It also nicely complimented the weathered look of the flowers and stems. And finally, it allowed me to watercolor the edges of the main panel so that it framed the flowers and brought the Island Indigo to the center of the card.
- Mail Box Bling: Who doesn’t like to get something pretty in the mail? Here I used the Aquapainter to lightly watercolor the edge of the envelope and then stamped the flowers to mirror the card front. The recipient will enjoy this, but so will everyone who handles it on the way!
