Do you love Easter Egg Hunts as much as I do? I loved them as a kid, and I still love them as an adult! I can’t wait until all the kids are done looking so that I can go out and try to find whatever eggs might still be nestled at the base of a tree or pinched in the branches of a bush. I’m not sure why, but I’m always so excited when I find an egg!
Today’s project is all about the Easter Eggs. And the Easter Basket. And the Easter Grass.
Tips and Tricks
Washi Easter Eggs: These eggs were super easy to make. A strip or two of our 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape and the Curvy Keepsakes Box Thinlits and done! The woven Easter Basket was also cut with the Curvy Keepsakes Box Thinlits and the handle was cut with two nested Ovals Collection Framelits.
Woven Easter Basket: The Easter Basket was woven into a larger square before it was run through the Big Shot. Another great use for Washi Tape–to temporarily hold a mask, framelit, or part of a project in place. Last week I used Washi Tape to help with embossing here. For weaving, tape one end of all of the horizontal pieces to a scrap piece of cardstock and then weave strips vertically between the horizontal pieces. When all the weaving is finished, use a little Snail Adhesive or Multipurpose glue to adhere the woven mat to the supporting cardstock so that it won’t loosen or fall apart when transferred or cut.
Easter Grass: Have you tried out our Fringe Scissors? They are perfect for making grass, witches’ brooms, graduation tassels, flowers, confetti and, well, fringe. If I want a very straight line of fringe, I draw a line on the back of my paper or cardstock and then line up the tip of the scissors to that line before I make the cut. However, if I’m using cardstock and I want the fringe to be flat rather than a little twisted, I do not cut all the way to the tip of the scissors. That last little “snip” required to close the scissors can cause the paper to twist, so leave yourself just a little room at the end for flatter results on thicker papers and cardstock.
