I’ll be sad to see the 2014-2016 In Colors retire May 31, so here’s a little tribute to Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist and Lost Lagoon. You can see a Blackberry Bliss card that I previously featured here, and you can come back soon to see one with Hello Honey. But, for today, here are the stars:
Tips and Tricks
Retiring In Color Accessories: As you probably know, every year Stampin’ Up! introduces 5 new, trendy colors, called In Colors. The upside is this keeps our colors really fresh and current. The downside is we have to say goodbye to 5 colors we’ve grown to love–not only the inks, but also the cardstock, washi tape, markers and other accessories. They usually sell out quickly, so order yours before they’re gone!
Layering with Vellum: For these cards, I stamped images on the cardstock behind the vellum and then stamped additional images onto the vellum itself. This adds depth and detail to the cards. I learned that stamping solid images on vellum is no easy task. Be prepared to use your fingers, blender pens, paint brushes or other tools to fill in the large images like the balloons below. I also learned that the darker colors didn’t show the contrast as well, so although the Mossy Meadow background is really pretty in person, it doesn’t show for the camera too well.
Washi Tape Borders: The 1/2″ Washi Tape on this project is wrapped around a 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of cardstock. That border hides and secures the edges of the vellum. All of the current Washi Tape will be retiring on May 31 or when supplies run out, so if you love this In Color tape like I do, don’t forget to put it on an order soon!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Love the dimension you get from layering and stamping with vellum. Lovely cards.

Thanks Barbara Jean! I like to emboss on vellum because the image is usually a little cleaner, but this was fun to try.

Thanks, Brian. That’s my favorite, too. I love the stamp set (World of Dreams), which is also retiring!
