If you are looking for an easy but striking project, check out the Beautifully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper in the Occasions catalog. This paper is perfectly sized for card making and scrapbooking. Here it creates a lace background for a quick card.
Tips and Tricks
Cutting: The package contains four sheets each of two different designs. The first is a 12 x 12 pattern. This can be left in tact for a background on a scrapbook page or sections can be clipped off for highlights on a project. The second design has distinct elements to cut out and use for accents or card fronts. This is the one I’d like to help you cut most efficiently.
When you see a beautiful sheet of paper like this, it can be hard to make that first cut. I know! But here are some tips that will make dividing up the paper easier for you, and when you cut just one sheet, you’ll have enough pieces for 6 cards and several scrapbook pages.
First orient your paper as in the picture above, and line up the left edge at 10″ on your paper cutter. When cut, you will remove the 2″ x 12″ element on the right hand side of the page. Turn the paper 90 degrees to the left, and line up the left edge at 10 1/2″ on your paper cutter. This will remove the 1 1/2″ x 10″ element. This leaves the 6 elements that are each 3 1/2″ x 5″. I turned the paper another 90 degrees to the left and lined up the left edge at 5″ on my trimmer. This divided the paper down the center. Finally, for each of the two rectangles left (each contains 3 elements), I lined up the left edge at 7″ and cut and lined up at 3 1/2″ and cut, resulting in 6 beautiful pieces for card fronts.
Colors. This paper offers choices. The front is Petal Pink and the back is White. Both are beautiful.
Creating. These elements practically make cards by themselves. Here are just a few cards I made. Because the elements are 3 1/2″ x 5″ they fit perfectly on our Notecards, but they also play very well on standard 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card fronts.
